Autumn passed at Codete very quickly. With the beginning of school year, we started preparations for the biggest networking events in Europe. As enthusiasts of new technologies we decided to appear at several important events. Our HR department also had hands full of work. Job and career fairs began in Krakow and Lublin. But let’s start from the beginning…
September starts in Paris
In September, our executives visited Paris to connect new business relationships at Paris Retail Week. At the end of September, 19-21.09, a three-day Paris Retail Week – the European professional event dedicated to 360 retail took place. There were 3 intensive days of business, networking and presentations. It was a great opportunity to attend a range of high-level conferences. We could see various kinds of exhibition areas such as: consulting agencies, digital, IT for commerce, logistics, marketing, payment solutions, start-up and more. It was already the third edition of Paris Retail Week, but the first one we could attended.
These days we could also attend at Data driven Paris, a monthly edition conference for the EU data ecosystem co-organized by Serena Capital.
Totem Smart City Paris is an event concerning new technologies that took place on the 20 September 2017 at Boulevard Haussmann in Paris .
These 3 days were very busy, but we could not miss out on the Artificial Intelligence event. Mentioned here about Paris Intelligence Artificielle Meetup. TheParis.AI is a community that brings corporates, startups etc. The 6th edition of this meetup hosted 100 people and covered topics such as natural language processing, big data analytics, computer vision and machine learning.
Long way from Paris through Amsterdam to Berlin
At the end of September we organized another edition of CoMeet in Berlin – the first informal networking event dedicated to technology enthusiasts and IT experts. The second edition of CoMeet took place in the heart of Berlin, The Kunztschule. The event consisted of Lightning Talks panel and presentations from 6 speakers. Apart from our CTO Karol Przystalski, on the stage we could also see Mark Miller from CatCap GmbH, Uzi Blum from Applift, Anna Bressanelli from Leonardo Hotels Europe, Peter Schlecht and Denis Schwibinger from Applause. If you haven’t read the report yet, you can read about this event here. The next edition of CoMeet will take place also in Berlin this spring, so get ready!
We ended September very positively and October began very intensely.
11-12 October we had the pleasure of attending one of the largest conference about Artificial Intelligence. The World Summit AI took place in Amsterdam.
In the most iconic building in Amsterdam built in 1902, Gashouder, we had an opportunity to see the brightest brains in AI and over 100 speakers. Our CTO and Founder, Karol Przystalski made a speech on “How to implement A.I. in healthtech.”
We were surprised by the fact that our stand attracted many attendees and enthusiasts of new technologies. On our huge monitor we presented our Content Monitoring Tool.
World Summit AI was great event full of energy and positive vibes. Besides the conference, Codete team had a moment to visit beautiful Amsterdam, in the meantime our CTO Karol Przystalski flew to London to give a workshop “Bots! Bots! Bots everywhere!“ at ODSC Europe Conference. Open Data Science Conference is Europe’s largest scientific data application. Latest AI & data science topics, tools and languages from some of the best and brightest minds in the field. All in one event. Sounds cool, huh?
On our way from London, our executives Artur Olechowski and Grzegorz Śmiałek went to Glasgow where they took part in prestigious 3-day conference in a breathtaking setting at the wonderful Royal Turnberry Hotel near Glasgow.
3 days and 13 summit workshops – you can short describe GDS Summits Intelligence Engagement, which bring together business leaders from across the continent. The summit program focused on innovation and transformation through disruption, architecture and optimisation. Case studies, workshops, collaborative sessions and one-to-one meetings. It had been a pleasure to be there!
How about our HR and job fairs ?
Autumn is also a challenge for our HR department. Beginning of September we started with our internal CodeteCON edition in our office. And because we like to spend time at work and also after work together, in addition to the exhaustive presentation of our colleagues we also had a lot of fun having pizza and board games!
And If you haven’t read about our brand new first edition of CodeteCON yet, here is the link.
In October our Teach Lead Mateusz had an opportunity to appear at the MobiConf conference. Mateusz, recently in love with functional programming and programming language Swift, had his speech “Going functional in Swift”. We are very proud!
Lublin on our way!
On 14 October we went to Lublin for Job Fairs. The Kariera IT took place at the Lubelskie Centrum Konferencyjne. For programmers it was a great opportunity to get to know the IT industry, technology news, listen to the interesting lectures conducted by IT experts and primary – have new job opportunities in IT field.
On KarieraIT we had the opportunity to meet new cool people, but also to promote the upcoming CodeteCon event, which we have organized only in Krakow so far. Now we set up for the third edition of CodeteCON (not counting the internal ones) in Lublin . CodeteCON is a meetup during which we want to share our knowledge and learn cool things from speakers or attendees.
We are really surprised with the number of attendees, which with each edition increases as well as positive feedback from you! We are glad that we can create CodeteCON with you!
Back in Kraków
Coming back to Krakow after CodeteCON in Lublin we still had few more HR events.
On 24 October the conference Wyzwania HR took place. Experts and practitioners supporting HR departments on a daily basis had been telling and inspiring how to build even more engaging work environments.
And not only because of our “Friendly Recruitment” we want to learn more now. We could see recognized industry leaders on stage.
A day later our Senior HR Ania had a chance to perform at EB Masters in Krakow. Ania raised the issue of employer branding and presented news and latest trends about HR and employer branding. The presentation was splendid!
At this fall’s edition of MeetJS (formally KrakowJS) in Krakow we had the opportunity to hear our Software Engineer, Marcin. Marcin presented a comparison between SVG icons and icon fonts. The event attracts enthusiasts and fans of new technologies and programmers from Krakow. This time the edition of MeetJS was held in SmartUp – SmartRecruiters Engineering on Fabryczna Street.
November, here we come
10th of November our General project Manager, Paweł participated in DevUp Rencontres Economiques in Orlean, France, where he was a co-speaker and presented some facts about Data Science and Machine Learning.
Few days later, 14th of November our CTO Karol went to Warsaw on the first edition of the Machine Learning@Enterprise 2017 conference. In few words: Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in business practice with workshops and tutorials. Our Karol couldn’t miss it and during the workshop he presented various types of bots. He implemented three real-world examples of bots that can be used as a basis for our own projects. To warm up he implemented a bot for task automatization. The secondary goal was to develop a chatbot for customer service with some NLP basics used. Taking Alexa as the main star, he spoke how to use bots with speech recognition in project management.
After our visit to Warsaw we went to Berlin again, this time for the Data Natives conference. During the conference, Karol shortly explained different aspects of machine learning methods used for bots. The topics that were covered during this session were natural language understanding, sentiment analysis, conversation management and pattern recognition. The main part was dedicated to generative models that are the current trend when it comes to the chatbots.
What is worth mentioning, at the conference we had an opportunity to try a dedicated app which was rich in tools like setting up meetings or scanning business cards. We wish to have the same great app on every event.
Data Natives was a successful event, we are very pleased that we could have appeared in Berlin. Great presenters, presentations full of substantive knowledge and cool atmosphere.
As for Berlin, it’s not over. Together with SIBB we organized Machine Learning als Bestandteil der Digitalen Transformation event in Berlin. Thank you all for coming, thank you our co-organizator but mostly we would like to thank you: Tina Kluewer from parlamind GmbH, Armin Berger from 3pc GmbH Neue Kommunikation, André Bergholz – Implisense, Dr. Guenther Hoffmann It was a great pleasure! Hope to see you next time in 2018!
The last days of November were also very intense – we have been preparing preparing for our December event, CodeteCON, about which you will probably read in our next article.
However, we managed to appear on the long-awaited HackerX event in Krakow.
HackerX is a recruiting and networking event for developers and employers. It’s an opportunity to meet some of the most fastest growing and innovative companies.
The fall ended with our Halloween Party that brought thrills and chills for everyone in Codete.
More experience in 3 intensive months of hard work
To sum up, Let’s look at our satisfying statistics:
- We visited 5 countries and 7 cities
- We organized 4 events
- We participated in over 16 events
December ahead. It is a magical month but also brings challenges: 3rd edition of CodeteCON in Cracow and New Year’s Eve at Codete. Good end of the year for all ! 🙂
